Children & Young People
We are committed to the nurture and protection of children and young people, helping them grow in their knowledge and experience of the Christian Faith. We have adopted the Baptist Union’s guidelines and procedures set out in its booklet ‘Safe to Grow’. This is a link to our Safeguarding Statement. All teachers have had DBS checks.
We provide young people’s groups and have an area in the service where baby and toddler toys and books are available.
A Sunday School for primary age children is available and a youth group for over 11s. Last year the teenagers had one or two sessions a month doing the Freedom in Christ course for Young People; the younger children followed the Scripture Union Light curriculum. Our aim is for fun, learning about God and experimenting in prayer. Currently no primary aged children attend, but teachers are on hand for when they do!
The teenagers have been going to the Newday camp in Norfolk for three years, and last year joined St John’s Woodbridge young people at Soul Survivor. and they go again this year on 17th August to the last ever Soul Survivor. Summer camps encourage and challenge their faith and give them fun with thousands of other young people.
We run an annual Holiday Club in the Easter holidays for primary age children, with past themes being ‘Lego Madness’, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘Cops and Robbers’. We are having a year off in 2019, but hope to return in 2020 with another exciting programme!
