TWAM collects all types of hand tools, workshop equipment, sewing machines, knitting machines, computers, typewriters, educational books, haberdashery items plus other sundry items from throughout the UK. These arrive either directly at our Headquarters in Ipswich, or via one of our Support Groups in Coventry, Southend on Sea, Halstead, Dunfermline, Axminster and Penarth.
Everything is cleaned and refurbished making them fit for use in Developing Countries around the world. Tools are then made up into “Kits” for tradesmen such as Carpenters, Builders, Electricians, Motor Mechanics, Cobblers, Leather Workers, Metal Workers and Plumbers.
Books are categorized and sorted into sets for Primary and Secondary Schools. Computers and Laptops are reformatted and new software installed, bicycles and wheelchairs are serviced to a high standard.
TWAM is a recognised NGO in Uganda and Kenya and works with other NGO partners in Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Africa and Nigeria.
Mission Statement
Tools with a Mission (TWAM) is a charity whose primary goal is to impact on poverty by sending shipments of tools and equipment where it is most needed, to support those who do not have the tools for work to feed themselves and their families.
Goal
“That the provision of tools will help to motivate and equip vulnerable young men and women with the tools to learn a trade and so give them the opportunity to support themselves and improve their lives”
We will be at Sizewell Hall from Friday evening, 4th May, to Sunday afternoon, 6th May.
If you have been before, you’ll know how special these times are together. If you haven’t been before, you’re in for a treat. We have a guest speaker, wonderful food, activities for the children, times of prayer and very enriching free time when we can relax and have fun together.
.
In 2010 TWAM over 434 separate projects benefited from 220 tonnes of aid shipped in 22 Containers from TWAM’s warehouse in Ipswich.
