Changing lives through the Good News of Jesus Christ

Serving God: Forgiveness - Mark 14:1-11

By Neville Jephcote on 10 April 2022 at Service in FAYAP and on Zoom with Communion

Neville looks at the incident in Simon the Leper’s home in the context of Jesus’ final hours before his crucifixion: what it meant for those in the house with him and what it means for us now.
The timing of her extravagant pouring of a ‘Chanel-equivalent’ perfume over Jesus is key to understanding his acceptance of her loving gift -indeed adoration of him. But that she, a sinner, was accepted by him, in fact defended by him, and others were told by Jesus that her act of love would be talked about for years to come, gives us all encouragement and an indication of how much God loves us, sinners as we are, and how he can still use us to bless people.
