As a long-time friend and former member of the church, Alan begins by updating us on his current activities in ‘Together for Ipswich’ and in helping Samaritan’s Purse, his former employer, identify churches near the borders of Ukraine in need of support in helping refugees.
He then takes us through the seasons of our lives and how well or little we manage to celebrate, in the secular understanding of the word, at different times (e.g. when exhausted with a young family).
He goes through reasons to celebrate: Covenant, Commemoration, Completion and Congratulation and shows there are times of brokenness where mourning is appropriate, giving a significant example from his life, and yet celebration is possible.
