Holiday Dreams - Acts 16:6-10
By Edith Peck on 31 July 2022 at Service in FAYAP and on Zoom with Communion
Edith reminds us that the book of Acts was written by Luke and can be thought of as in two parts, one about the activities of Peter, another about Paul’s activities, with Luke being clear to show many similarities between them and that neither is better than the other.
It is clear in this passage that the Holy Spirit is ensuring Paul and his companions go west. Paul seems to have no trouble in hearing the voice of God’s Spirit guiding him, and of being certain of this being God’s voice. Of course, Paul was constantly praying and listening to the Holy Spirit, so we understand we need to practice listening and taking action in order to know His voice ourselves.
She recommends Dallas Willard’s book ‘Hearing God’ and I recommend Pete Greig’s book ‘How to hear God’, for us to learn to discern His voice in our lives.
