Changing lives through the Good News of Jesus Christ

Jehovah-Rohi: The Lord our Shepherd - John 10:1-18 and Psalm 23

By Joanna Kindred-Peck on 19 March 2023 at Service in FAYAP and on Zoom with Communion

Jo begins with some of the many names of Jesus, and says that Jesus came to earth to reveal his Father, God, to people. One aspect of God’s character is the Shepherd.
As she looks at Psalm 23 she shows that all our essential needs are met by God -rest, water to drink, restoration of the soul, food, and all this to overflowing! Also our emotional needs are met -comfort while walking through difficulties (not around them), which give us temporary pain but their purpose is eternal.
She challenges us as to whom we follow? Who is our shepherd?
Also, we should beware the thieves and robbers and those who imitate the shepherd, and be assured that Jesus is the Good Shepherd who lays down his life for us, his sheep. We need to spend time with Him, so as to learn to recognise his voice.
