Apologies that I missed the first few words of this talk.
Jo takes us through chapter 3 of John, with that visit by Nicodemus to Jesus in the night. She shows how Jesus dispels the long-held belief of the Jews that God is one who judges us, condemns us, even, but instead shows God’s great love for all.|
Jesus also says that it is through belief that anyone can become God’s child, not by heredity (being descended from Abraham, for instance) or by attending church and doing good things, but it is a work of the Spirit of God as we choose to believe in Jesus, bringing about a new birth. This is the foundation of the Christian faith.
