Neville starts by saying that our experiences from years ago come in useful later, in ways we cannot have predicted.
He then puts Deborah in context among the judges. She is the only judge who was also a prophet, apart from Moses and Samuel, so amongst esteemed people of God. She stepped out of her comfort zone to go onto the battle-field with Barak and after the victory there was peace for 40 years.
Jael, too, was in the right place at the right time and acted outside her comfort zone or experience.
Neville asked if we are willing to step outside our comfort zones to follow God’s leading? If we stay close to Him God will take us on adventures we hadn’t predicted! We can trust Him to have the best plan for us, whether it is to join in or to start something He wants to do.
