Changing lives through the Good News of Jesus Christ

God’s Love as King -Palm Sunday - John 12:9-19

By Sue Hutt on 13 April 2025 at Morning Service with Communion on Zoom

Sue mentions this Riding Lights podcast at the start: https://www.ridinglights.org/thepassion
She begins by helping us to remember the processions we have witnessed (mostly on TV), such as royal processions of gilded coaches and uniformed mounted guards, but reminds us that Jesus’ Palm Sunday procession was very different. She then helps us imagine what the people involved thought on that day -the boy with the colt, Mary and Martha, Jesus and more- and suggests some of their thoughts. We are challenged to imagine ourselves by the roadside watching the procession and given time to reflect on what we might think. She ends by reminding us of God’s great love for us.
After Sue’s talk Tony reads a sonnet called Palm Sunday, which is included in the book Word in the Wilderness: A Poem a Day for Lent and Easter. Canterbury Press 2014
