Peter encourages us to love, not just those who are like us, but to reach across social divides to others, citing Jesus’ story of the Good Samaritan. He then focuses on our love for all in our church family, which Jesus prayed for, and became an example of, as he washed the feet of the disciples at his last supper on earth. The challenge is to agree to disagree and still love and respect each other and Peter gives us guidelines to help us do this.
