Pray without ceasing - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

By Colin Ayers on 28 July 2024 at Service in FAYAP and on Zoom with Communion

Colin begins by asking ‘How can we pray without ceasing?’ and then mentions several types of prayer, such as petition, intercession, thanksgiving, and says they are all important, but in his talk he will talk about Contemplative Prayer -where we don’t speak, but focus on God.
Her refers to chapter 8 of Pete Grieg’s book ‘How to pray’ where he quotes Brennan Manning, who explained to Pete about contemplative prayer and that it is the deepest form of prayer and enables us to carry the presence of God with us throughout our day.
Colin asks ‘Is it biblical?’ and mentions many bible verses, then gives us some practical tips on how to manage an hour of silence where we, to quote the song, ‘Be still and know that I am God’.
